Does the claim have current-page context?
A detail is reliable only when it is specific enough and read from the right level. Before you rely on a claim, check what it is actually tied to.
Price
A price is only current when it is read on the current page, for the specific option you are viewing. A price remembered from a category, a list, or an older description is not a current price.
Options
Color, size, version, and quantity belong to the specific option. The current page must show the option you mean — a wider label cannot stand in for it.
Images
An image has context only when it belongs to the option you are looking at. A list thumbnail is a clue; the current page’s images for the selected option are the detail.
QC and shipping claims
QC or shipping statements are specific to the moment and the option they describe. Re-read them on the current page, and do not carry them over from a wider level or an older note.
Older descriptions, list thumbnails, and wider labels cannot stand in for the specific options and facts on the page you are actually viewing.
Four checks before you rely on a claim
- Current level: which depth level does the claim come from?
- Visible: is the detail actually shown, or remembered?
- Closer source: is there a more specific page to open?
- Do not infer: if the current page does not show it, do not fill it in.
